I recently took the new roof top tour at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. This large gargoyle was sitting on the very narrow walkway. Medieval gargoyles were designed to scare unseen evil away from early churches and homes.

I'm a painter using oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, and more. Watch me paint on YouTube at @artiststacycbottoms. I started painting at a young age after visiting an art museum for painting lessons. My grandparent's farm provided the inspiration for my landscapes and transportation art. After high school I joined the Marines for tuition, and I became a rifle range instructor. That's when I realized how much I enjoyed teaching. Years later I completed my M.A. in Museum Studies from Johns Hopkins University. The Hickory Museum of Art has exhibited my paintings and I exhibit my art online. I've also created art for a published children's book.
