I wanted to paint a mountainous scene with clouds rolling between them. I have experienced this cloud movement in person while hiking at 6,000 feet in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. At that height the air is cool and so is the water in many of the waterfalls. I'm also part Irish and my family has visited Ireland which has similar landscapes in that region. This was my attempt to create art that reflects the similarities of these two countries. Ireland is also where the History Channel films the TV show Vikings. I used my Wacom Cintiq to paint this landscape.
I'm a painter using oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, and more. Watch me paint on YouTube at @artiststacycbottoms. I started painting at a young age after visiting an art museum for painting lessons. My grandparent's farm provided the inspiration for my landscapes and transportation art. After high school I joined the Marines for tuition, and I became a rifle range instructor. That's when I realized how much I enjoyed teaching. Years later I completed my M.A. in Museum Studies from Johns Hopkins University.
