Artist's Description

I wanted to paint a tribute to Chuck Yeager. He was an American hero and an inspiration to me as a kid. He was brave and seemed to be destined for greatness. I used digital painting media for this painting. I gave this the title "The X-1 Man" because of the experimental aircraft.

My grandparent's farm provided the inspiration for my landscapes and transportation art. After high school I joined the Marines for tuition, and I became a rifle range instructor. That's when I realized how much I enjoyed teaching. Years later I completed my M.A. in Museum Studies from Johns Hopkins University. The Hickory Museum of Art has exhibited my paintings and I exhibit my art online. I've also created art for a published children's book.
